Attendance Policy |
Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance, timeliness, and overall college success. Prompt and regular participation - whether "face to face" or online - is essential to complete all LSCPA courses successfully. The weekly lessons are cumulative; therefore, it is imperative that students stay current with their coursework, assignments, and projects. In addition, students who fall behind in their course work miss out on the cumulative curriculum, as a whole. Therefore, it is recommended that students begin their coursework promptly when the semester begins. If a student does need to start the course a few days late, they should contact the instructor via the provided e-mail address as soon as possible, after the course has opened. If, at any time during the regular semester, a student plans to be away from this course, please inform the instructor/ chair via e-mail, and make every effort to continue working on the coursework while away. If this is not possible, the student should make a plan with their instructors to catch up upon returning. Please note: Failure to submit required work in this course for seven (7) consecutive days will result in a 10% reduction with each missing posted assignment per week. Failure to submit required work in this course for fourteen (14) consecutive unexcused days may result in an automatic failing grades for lab assignments and projects, eventual academic penalty, and recommendation for student withdrawal. Students should contact their instructors as soon as possible to determine what, if any, arrangements can be made for the specific situation. Instructors may issue a failing grade for failure to submit required work in a course. The grade of F will be recorded for failure to complete or properly withdraw from courses. **F2F: Students receive one "free absence", before late class entry, early class departure, or absences start to count against your grade. After that, each absence deducts two percentage points from your final grade. If you are late for class or leave class early three times, it will count as one unexcused absence. More than five (5) unexcused absences will result in a failing grade for the course. |

Course Description: The continued, advancing practice of procedures and techniques in recording and manipulating audio. This includes digital audio editing, advanced recording techniques, and more involved engineering projects. Topics include overview of tracking, editing, and mixing audio. Hardware/ Software External Firewire/USB 3.0/ Thunderbolt Hard Drive with Minimum 7,200 RPM and Oxford Chip Set (Preferably Avid Certified for use with Pro Tools). Recommendations: Glyph, Lacie, Western Digital or OWC Hard Drive (500 GB or better) Recommended: Pro Tools 2021.6 or higher (Students qualify for monthly Pro Tools Academic subscription) An iLok Smart Key (Physical or Cloud-based) is required for authorization of all Pro Tools Academic systems Any current audio interface that supports Core Audio (Mac OS) or ASIO (Windows) such as the Avid Mbox 3, Focusrite Scarlett, Presonus AudioBox 96, etc. Pair of Stereo headphones (AKG K240MkII, Sennheiser HD 280 PRO, Sony MDR7506, Audio Technica ATH-M50x, or Beyerdynamic DT 660. Course Journaling: Google Docs/ Blackboard Computer Requirements: Mac Users OS X 10.15.7 Catalina or higher PC Users Windows 10 or higher All Users Latest version of Google Chrome Zoom meeting software Webcam Speakers or headphones External or internal Microphone Broadband Internet connection Studio/ Lab Policy - The equipment in the recording studios and the Mac Lab must always be treated with respect and care. In the Mac Lab, headphones should be used at all times at your respective station, and an acceptable volume level must be maintained. Please notify chair, instructor, or student worker if there is a problem with the equipment. Students who show disregard for the instruments/ equipment will be asked to leave the class session.
